Job Title: Clerk of Works
Location: Surrey
Job Type: Contract
Salary: £250-£300 per day depending on experience
 
Job Description: As a Clerk of Works, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the quality and safety of construction projects from inception to completion. You will ensure that work is carried out to the client's standards, specifications, and schedule while maintaining the highest levels of workmanship and safety.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the work of contractors and subcontractors to ensure adherence to specifications, standards, and contract terms.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to verify that construction works comply with design drawings, specifications, and relevant regulations.
  • Identify any issues or defects in workmanship, materials, or methods and report these to the project manager or site supervisor.
  • Keep accurate records of all inspections, tests, and quality checks, and prepare detailed reports as required.
  • Liaise with architects, engineers, and other construction professionals to resolve any on-site issues.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in the management of construction schedules and budgets by providing accurate and timely progress reports.
  • Attend site meetings and provide input on construction progress and quality-related matters.
 
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Clerk of Works or a similar role in the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, techniques, and materials.
  • Familiarity with relevant building regulations, standards, and codes of practice.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Relevant qualifications in construction or a related field (e.g., HNC/HND, NVQ, or degree).
 
Desirable:
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., ICWCI, CIOB).
