Job description

We are working with a privately owned Civil Construction Contractor, with a current headcount of around 240 and projected annual revenue of 180M.

They are recruiting a Senior Project Planner to support a recently secured data centre project located in Vienna, with a construction value of €113 million. As the Turnkey Design and Build Contractor, they are responsible for overseeing the entire design and construction process from inception to completion. They are collaborating with a well-known international technology company.

This is a great time to join a smaller contractor which has ambitious growth plans for their European business. Your contribution will be recognised and valued, and you will be known by name, not payroll number.

This position would best suit an individual with site-based experience who has subsequently moved into project planning. You will manage, monitor and integrate the programme and you will need to be well versed in Primavera P6. Ideally you will have strong experience in value loading and knowledge of earned value management.

The role can be offered one of two ways; either under a UK/Irish employment contract and a rotation of 17-4 OR under a local Austrian contract with supported relocation.

Other key responsibilities:
  • Provide planning support and mentorship to team members.
  • Ensure seamless integration of design, procurement, and construction phases.
  • Develop and present integrated tender programmes.
  • Manage change impacts, advising on EOT requirements.
  • Prepare clear progress dashboards and trackers for management.
  • Communicate key risks, issues, and opportunities to the team.
  • Produce schedules and secure client approvals for programmes and EOTs.
  • Oversee complex or multiple projects, supervising other planners if needed.
  • Implement lean visual programmes to enhance project delivery, productivity, and safety.
  • Adhere to company core values in all activities.

To succeed in this role you will most likely:
  • Hold a relevant degree qualification in engineering or construction, or hold extensive practical experience
  • Understand and have utilised Critical Path Analysis, Earned Value Techniques, and “Extension of Time” analysis techniques
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage a large workload and prioritise tasks
  • Have a background in operational roles, for example as a Site Engineer or Site Agent, along with demonstrable experience in working as a Project Planner or Senior Planner
  • Have strong knowledge of planning and scheduling systems, mainly Primavera P6
  • Ideally you will hold a passport that gives you full working rights across the EU, but please note that this is not essential. Visas can be procured if you're the right person for the role.

On offer is a salary of between €80,000 - €90,000 per annum, with a comprehensive benefits package which includes your accommodation, monthly subsistence allowance, rental car, pension, private medical, 24 days' holiday, and discretionary annual bonus
