Position: Senior Commercial Manager - PMO team
Rate: Indicative Outside IR35
Location: Birmingham
Start date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 6 months +
Working Arrangements: Hybrid 3 days office & 2 days home


People Group are looking to recruit a Senior Commercial Manager from a Client Side background to work for a Train Operating Company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Management of NEC4 construction contracts.
  • Regularly reviewing and updating the project risk register and risk spend profile
  • Following project governance and reporting controls to manage the risk draw down process and additional project spend as required
  • Preparation and presentation of monthly project commercial reports, including contract data metrics and forecast to completion.
  • Updating and presenting monthly finance reports providing VOWD and cash payment details and variance analysis commentary.
  • Updating ad hoc data and reports as required to support business cases and audits
  • Procurement and management of survey and enabling works as required by the project team.
  • Management of claims, mitigation and advising on defence of claims, including analysis of the various parties’ positions.
  • Attending and leading project meetings, both with internal teams and with suppliers, including building and managing supplier relationships
  • Reviewing and reporting on supplier performance, including review of monthly progress reports and project metrics such as Earned Value and KPIs.
  • Plan, deliver and manage procurement activities for the civil team.

Essentials and Desirables:
 
  • Must have experience doing NEC 4 contracts.
  • Have worked Client side before, Preferably Network Rail or another TOC.
  • Experience of infrastructure systems or delivering civil works contracts in an operational environment would be an advantage.
  • Hold or be taking professional stage of membership of The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.
  • Developing packaging and procurement strategies for large, complex infrastructure projects.
  • Use of Asite Contract Administration Management System (CAMS).
  • Use of SAP for contract reporting and payments.
  • Cost reporting – including production of cash flow forecasts, variance reporting and analysis.
  • Risk and value management and their application in developing strategies, estimates and cost plans.
  • Excellent numeracy and data analysis skills.
  • Stakeholder and supplier relationship management skills.
