Role: Health & Safety Lead – Main Contracting
Type: Permanent
Salary: £85,000 - £100,000 + Package
Location: Central London
An excellent job opportunity for a Health & Safety Lead to work for a leading construction main contractor on signature projects in London.
Health, safety, and wellbeing (HSW) is firmly engrained into client’s philosophy. The last 30 years has seen them continually strive to reduce risks, and protect our people and stakeholders, by building a culture where safety first becomes second nature. As a Health, Safety & Wellbeing business partner, provide visible and effective, leadership and direction to the construction business unit and be part of the health and safety team to influence business decisions by being a principal provider of guidance and recommendation within a project a particular area/business or unit for professional expertise.
What you will be doing?
Acting as a Health & Safety Lead within the Logistics & specialist service sector, to keep the business and projects abreast of new developments and apply professional standards to ensure best practice. Maintaining core areas of expertise and impart knowledge to aid the development, training and mentoring of others.
Acting as consultant to other parts of business to assist in resolving problems. Developing and applying tools and techniques, define business/project strategies and methods to initiate and/or implement change to improve business performance. Providing professional advice to directors & managers to assist them in achieving business objectives.
Maintaining awareness of business implications of own activities to improve the quality of technical or business recommendations.
Creating, developing, and maintaining an extensive range of internal/external relationships to maximise impact of expertise and knowledge to influence the quality of strategic decision making.
Advising on and interpret project contractual and statutory requirements and obligations to protect the project’s integrity.
Establishing, developing, and maintaining long-term corporate relationships with customers, partners, and suppliers to assist the achievement of business targets.

You will have a diploma or NVQ plus professional qualification or significant qualitative experience. Self-sufficiency within a professional discipline. Business acumen for enhancing and interpreting H&S business objectives. Pro-active customer focus displaying a clear understanding of their individual needs. Full awareness of IT capability. Actively promote H&S best practice. Developed communication and interpersonal/presentation skills and proven ability to present information to different audiences at all levels up to company board level. Ambassador for H&S and company. Demonstrate and coach/mentor others in the company values.
