Job description

The FP&A team provides strategic and analytical support to the FP&A Director and the CFO. The
Senior Manager will pay a key role in driving the success of the team. This will include:
 
  • Being a key member of a high-performing Financial Planning & Analysis team;
  • Improving the company’s understanding of and reporting on all types of performance and the quality of data that is used to guide decision making;
  • Refining and running company’s annual planning and budgeting process;
  • Conducting regular analysis of, and reporting on company’s pipeline, revenues, cashflow, staffing, overhead costs, risks and forecasts;
  • Preparing formal reports to explain the business’ performance and prospects to the Executive Board, shareholders and other stakeholders;
  • Ownership of cashflow modelling and other ad-hoc financial modelling;
  • Conducting periodic competitors’ analysis and benchmarking exercise to provide insight on market trends and identify areas for business improvement;
  • Supporting the implementation of system changes to improve the efficiency and speed of reporting and analysis (making it easier for leaders across the company to access and respond to the data relevant to their performance);
  • Integrating financial and non-financial data into reports and analysis to help achieve its financial and non-financial performance goals (e.g., environmental sustainability, workforce diversity). Collaborate with the Digital team to evolve KPI reporting in response to changing business priorities;
  • Providing insight into changes in the external environments and markets in which our client operates(globally), identifying trends and likely drivers of future revenue, cost, cashflow and risk. This will involve analysis of the performance of the key competitors and of potential changes in the relevant regulatory, economic and commercial environments;
  • Providing the data and analytical and leadership support needed to enhance the group’s banking, insurance, bonding, hedging, commodity purchasing and tax arrangements over time; and Supporting corporate activity and due diligence processes.
  • The role will involve close liaison with the Finance Senior Leadership and Group Partners Leadership teams, business unit stakeholders and external stakeholders.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
  • Be an ambassador and role model for the company, both internally and externally, embodying the Company’s purpose, priorities and values, and contributing to the strategic direction of the organisation.
  • Integrate forecast information from business and functional leaders to produce high quality forecasts predicting performance relative to the business’ agreed targets that can be accepted as a reliable basis of decision-making on a monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Support the Executive Board understand the financial impacts of its strategic choices and decisions (becoming a trusted adviser to the CFO and the rest of the Executive Board).
  • Support the continued development of a culture of financial awareness throughout the business.
  • Drive improvements in the quality of data by, for example, testing and reporting on compliance with the business’ data and reporting standards and processes.
  • Identify and propose areas of improvement, innovation and investment, to maintain our client’s position as a leader in its chosen markets.
  • Manage non-routine financial analysis to a high level of quality.
  • Take care of colleagues’ health, safety and wellbeing.
 
Person Specification
 
Technical Competencies required
 
  • A broad range of FP&A experience, including financial modelling, performance data analysis and synthesis, and the ability to drive and deliver change,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience of leading and influencing senior teams effectively.
  • Able to articulate internal and external perspectives, and to translate big ideas into operational plans and simple, compelling messages.
  • Ability to handle large data set and present complex information in an accessible way (and to do so, where appropriate, in accordance with relevant accounting standards).
  • Experience of maintaining reliable forecasts and responding to external scrutiny and audit.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience of reporting at a senior level.
  • Able to manage time effectively and able, occasionally, to work well under pressure to meet challenging deadlines as part of a team.

Qualifications, Certifications and Experience required
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Qualified accountant.
  • Experience of strategic and financial planning and the management of complex analysis to
  • support decision-making.
  • Familiar with IFRS.
  • Experience of working with Oracle would be an advantage (but is not essential).
