Commercial Manager - Assurance
Job description
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to support with commercial assurance activity on a large construction programme.
This position is offered on an indicative outside of IR35 day rate of ~£500 per day. We would anticipate the initial assignment to run for up to 12 months.
The Contractor supply chain is predominantly contracted under NEC3 / NEC4 ECC terms, with some amendments and special conditions. The main NEC option is A.
The purpose of this service is to assure if package contractors have entitlement to a Compensation Event (CE) under their contract.
We would envisage typical tasks to include:
The role will also require ad hoc advice and support to the Project Manager in relation to other commercial matters, meaning it important you quickly gain a wider appreciation of all commercial matters relating to the project, including monthly EAC reports. You will be required to attend the monthly programme board meeting.

- Review entitlement form that is issued by the Contractor
- Present entitlement form, capturing reasons for the change with all necessary back up provided
- Either accept, reject or request further information relating to the change to support the fact that it is indeed a change under the contract
- Log all of the details and progress on a Tracker including reasons why the change has been accepted/rejected
- Holds twice weekly meetings with the Project Management team to review and process all change requests
- Subject to the value of the change, support with the presentation to the change board or executive change board

To be successful in this assignment, we would envisage you to have:
- A degree or masters level qualification in quantity surveying / commercial management
- A strong understanding of NEC contracts and robust experience in managing contracts
- Ability to articulate opinions / advice in a concise, confident and clear manner
- Manage relationships with other consultants and package contractors in a collaborative manner
- Strong personal organisation skills and an ability to prioritise competing workflows
