Calibration Technician
Cambridge
£50,000 - £55,000 - Mon - Fri
The initial role (Before practical completion of client site) will be to be a liaison with the principle contractor, and other specialist contractors while providing comprehensive, practical calibration and instrumentation expertise. This role will be expected to assist the client in utilising this information from the principle contractor to generate documentation such as instrument lists, SOPs, Planned Preventative maintenance documents, assisting in CMMS population and other documentation associated the Calibration and Instrumentation.
Post practical Completion of the Client Campus, The day to day responsibilities of the role are to provide service delivery to the client based on the procedures created. This service delivery includes keeping critical test equipment within calibration date, organising sending to third party suppliers and reviewing subsequent paperwork. Selecting correct critical test equipment to complete field calibrations. Hosting third party suppliers when required for specialist calibrations on site. The service delivery will ensure maximum availability of systems by scheduling work with the aim of reducing downtime and maximising time for science. Other duties will include those deemed relevant by the management team to ensure the clients campus remains operational.

Education
A good basic education is essential, with good written and spoken English and basic Mathematical skills.
Training
Formal Calibration and Instrumentation Bias Apprenticeship.
HNC/HNC Level within Relevant Engineering Field.
cGXP Training.
Experience (Essential)
3 Years Calibration Maintenance experience within a regulated industry. (Pharmaceutical, Food processing etc). Experience Writing Calibration Procedures.
Aptitudes
Good verbal communication skills
Good written English skills.
Excellent IT Literacy
Character
Committed to the delivery of excellent customer service.
Calm manner, able to work under pressure.
Able to make sound decisions when needed.
Physically fit.
Able to ascend and descend vertical access equip.
Able to work at heights and on roofs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provision of a comprehensive Control and Instrumentation service, to the whole site.
- Creation of site Cal procedures / maintenance plans.
- Defining equipment tolerances for plant equipment.
- Identifying required test equipment
- Identifying space requirements for calibration workspace / test equipment
- Ensure maximum availability of plant and user equipment through efficient planned maintenance and prompt response to faults.
- Provide technical support for projects and assist with commissioning and hand over works for plant and user equipment
- Ensure that all work on planned and unplanned maintenance are completed and issued and closed down in full compliance with the CMMS.
- Raise continuous improvements to systems to improve efficiency, downtime or maintenance strategy.
- Raising deviations following the sites standard operating procedure when calibrations are outside their tolerance and have failed calibration.
- Planning and completion of planned preventative & client request calibrations.
- First line diagnostics of field instruments and planning/completion of the required remedial work.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Reports directly to the systems manager and will collaborate with site management team when required.
- The post holder has no directly reporting staff.
- This post carries no direct budgetary responsibility, but financial awareness is required.
