Job Title: Senior Engineer – Freelance (Outside IR35)
Location: Portsmouth, UK
Duration: 6-12 Months

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join a dynamic team in Portsmouth on a freelance basis for a 6-12 month contract. This role is outside IR35 and offers the opportunity to work on major heavy civils projects involving bulk earthworks and drainage systems.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to join a dynamic team in Portsmouth on a freelance basis for a 6-12 month contract. This role is outside IR35 and offers the opportunity to work on major heavy civils projects involving bulk earthworks and drainage systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee engineering activities related to bulk earthworks and drainage.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- Manage site operations, including planning, coordination, and resource allocation.
- Conduct site surveys, supervise setting out, and provide technical guidance to the team.
- Liaise with project managers, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including reports, risk assessments, and method statements.
- Monitor project progress, ensuring timelines and budgets are met without compromising quality.
- Troubleshoot on-site challenges and implement effective solutions.
- Extensive experience in heavy civils, particularly in bulk earthworks and drainage.
- Strong background in site management, setting out, and engineering practices.
- Proficiency in using engineering software such as AutoCAD and other related tools.
- Excellent understanding of civil engineering design principles and construction processes.
- Proven ability to lead and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of current health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- CSCS card and SMSTS certification (preferred).
- Relevant professional memberships or accreditations (desirable).
