Mechanical Project Engineer
MEP Contractor / Building Services (Construction)
Central London


A medium-sized MEP Contractor thriving under new leadership has entered into several new sectors amidst its ambitious growth plans. As such, they require a Mechanical Project Engineer to work on one of several new, London-based major schemes in the Commercial, Education & Health Care sectors, currently in the pre-construction phase.
Projects are valued at up to £30m in Building Services and you will be split between the Central London office and site, led by what stage projects are at.

Some of your duties will include:
  • Plan and manage the project workload, assigning specific tasks to designated personnel in collaboration with the Senior Project Manager's directives.
  • Review and analyze proposed designs, drawings, and specifications to ensure they meet our obligations, functional requirements, and recognized standards. Initiate revisions as necessary and inform the Senior Project Manager of any deficiencies.
  • Collaborate with the design team to ensure cost-effective purchasing strategies are integrated into the project.
  • Ensure that project engineering adheres to design specifications and relevant standards and regulations.
  • Monitor project deliverables and coordinate work sequencing to accelerate project completion in accordance with our work schedule.
  • Conduct design reviews on both internal and external consultants’ designs to confirm compliance and suitability for project and commissioning requirements.
  • Ensure that compliant pricing is obtained through new quotations for plant, equipment, and subcontract packages, guaranteeing technical compliance before placing any orders.
  • Prepare detailed technical inquiries for subcontractors and plant/equipment, including scope and compliance requirements, to facilitate comprehensive bid analysis.
  • Compile specific technical submittals for client consultant approval prior to the procurement of project plant and equipment.
  • Participate in model and drawing reviews, providing mark-ups to ensure final project drawings are thoroughly detailed, technically compliant, and ready for installation by the workforce.
  • Identify major subcontract packages required, referring to the original tender where applicable, and arrange sub-contract reviews, meetings, and appointments. Coordinate with the Projects Quantity Surveyor as needed.
  • Represent the company in meetings with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and other relevant organizations as directed by the Senior Project Manager.
  • Inspect and monitor the quality of the work completed, review zero defects reports, ensure
  • Compliance with specifications and drawings, and oversee site health and safety reports.
