Position: Commercial Administrator
Rate: Inside IR35
Location: Birmingham
Start date: January
Contract Duration: 3 months +
Working Arrangements: 5 days office/site based


People Group are looking to recruit a Commercial Administrator from a rail background to work for a Train Operating Company.

Responibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and administration of contracts, ensuring compliance with commercial terms and conditions.
  • Support the tracking of project costs, budgets, and expenditures. Assist in the analysis of cost performance and provide reports to ensure financial objectives are met.
  • Communicate with suppliers and clients to manage purchase orders, contract negotiations, and ensure timely payments and receipts.
  • Maintain up-to-date records and assist in preparing financial and commercial reports for internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Assist the procurement team in sourcing materials and services required for rail projects, including preparing purchase orders and tracking deliveries.
  • Help identify potential commercial risks and propose strategies to mitigate them. Ensure that project risks are managed in line with company policies.
  • Support the processing of supplier invoices and ensure that payments are made in line with contractual terms.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and the finance department to ensure all commercial activities align with project objectives.
  • Ensure that all commercial processes adhere to industry regulations, legal requirements, and company standards.

Required Skills:
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with project management software and financial systems is advantageous.
  • Experience or knowledge of the UK rail industry, including rail safety standards and compliance requirements.
