Job description

We have a unique opportunity for a Director of Engineering to join a private equity backed carbon capture developer.
 
 
They are dedicated to contributing to the solution for climate change through their own innovative process.
 
 
Following several years of pioneering R&D and three years of pilot operations they are now developing a scalable production platform that can be deployed commercially.
 
 
As Director of Engineering you will lead across all aspects of the engineering, design and construction stages of a unique carbon capture project. You will operate with a high degree of flexibility and accountability within an agile, quick moving and start up environment.
 
 
The engineering and delivery will be primarily conducted by external partners, managed through your in-house multi-disciplinary team. You will be responsible for leading and growing this team as well as proactively managing the external partnerships. You will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO.
 
 
Key responsibilities:
  • Deliver the project/s through design, construction, commissioning and into operations whilst managing technical challenges and construction risk
  • Lead the resolution of design and systems integration complexities
  • Develop and manage the master delivery timeline through coordination with the Senior Leadership Team
  • Grow the in-house engineering and delivery capability, providing team leadership and resource management
  • Identify, engage and foster constructive relationships with external engineering, project delivery and construction partners
  • Lead the development of budgets, reporting systems and other divisional administrative tasks
  • Initiate and lead the governance and delivery, using an appropriate project management methodology to give assurance that intended outcomes are identified and achieved
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities across the project team and ensure project compliance with the organisation's wider decision-making structures and processes
  • Drive efficient and sustainable delivery solutions to reduce embedded and operational carbon as well as CAPEX and OPEX whilst ensuring Health and Safety are of paramount importance for all stages of asset lifecycle
 
To be successful in this position we would anticipate that you:
  • Hold a degree or master’s in civil engineering, or similar, and be Chartered with a relevant professional institution such as the ICE.
  • Hold 10+ years senior level experience in the delivery of managing largescale projects or portfolios of multiple concurrent projects, ideally in the Water and Wastewater Treatment, Industrial and Process Control industries.
 
 
On offer is an attractive salary of around 125,000 per annum with a generous benefits package, including stock options.
