Designer
Location: Hertfordshire (Office preferred, with options for hybrid work)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 (depending on experience)
About the Role: A leading design-led firm specialising in architectural metalwork and glazing contracting is seeking an experienced Designer. With over 30 years in the industry, the firm is known for its high-profile projects in public transport and security sectors, including prestigious contracts on the Parliament estate.
Role Overview: As a Designer, you will lead the design process for a variety of projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables and adherence to project specifications. You will leverage your expertise in architectural metalwork and glazing to drive design excellence and innovation. Reporting to the Design Director and Senior Design Engineer, you will oversee project execution and mentor junior designers.
Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Lead the creation of detailed designs and drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Oversee and mentor junior designers, ensuring design integrity and compliance.
  • Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to align design objectives.
  • Conduct site visits to gather data and inform design decisions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
  • Manage project timelines and ensure on-time delivery of design milestones.
Essential Requirements:
  • Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of design principles and construction methods.
  • Proven experience in leading design projects, particularly in architectural metalwork and glazing.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours as required by project demands.
  • Ability to commute to the office daily is preferred, but hybrid work arrangements are possible.
Preferred Criteria:
  • Previous experience in high-security design projects.
